From 2013 to 2016, J. Brent Helms served as the Special Probate Judge of Elmore County. As a judge, he was invited to address probate and constitutional issues as a speaker at various symposiums.
Mr. Helms worked along side Probate Judge John E. Enslen in appealing unconstitutional takings of private property by the government and fighting against same-sex marriage in Alabama.
In 2012, Mr. Helms helped pass a law criminalizing elder abuse in Alabama.
In 2011, Mr. Helms donated more than 120 hours of assistance to Legal Services Alabama to protect the children of detained or deported immigrants. His guides, Los Niños and El Dinero, are currently used by the federal government and reputable organizations throughout the United States.
Mr. Helms graduated from Jones School of Law with a Juris Doctor and Auburn University Montgomery with a degree in International Studies and Trade.
Mr. Helms is fluent in Spanish.
Mr. Helms started and ran three successful businesses by the age of 30. He has a love for entrepreneurship and currently owns and runs two businesses.
Mr. Helms enjoys spending time with his wife and seven children.
